Why the old picture?

Quick question... sooo why are there all these 30 something year old men and women on these social networking sites who haven't taken a new picture since their senior prom? They have this retouched photo with corners missing where they've cropped the big girl they went with out of the picture? Laughable. I realize that EVERY site is not a dating site and it is not as though the goal is to impression and by extension pick someone up but shouldn't we be provided honest likeness of yourself? Albeit the picture is of you but how does one love themselves if their holding on to 10 years ago? Just curious...
